WHAT OUR VOLUNTEERS SAY

Gordon

“The Whiteinch Centre is a perfect oasis in the midst of our community. It serves to educate, entertain and inform through it's wide varity of classes, courses and events. A great place to be."

“The Whiteinch Centre was fantastic for giving me lots of opportunities while I was seeking new employment, from gaining experience in reception work and customer services to using social media to boost the centre brand and messages. I also felt my volunteer co-ordinator, Aily, really understood what my goal path was and supported me on that journey. I enjoyed undertaking all of these voluntary tasks knowing they would be valuable on my CV and to prospective employers. I also met some lovely people during my four years as a volunteer, who were approachable, friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend the centre to anyone looking for volunteering opportunities as a way of either filling time or to help with gaining employment. I would also recommend the centre for its wide range of classes and activities they have to offer”

Hugh Rooney

“I taught percussion to my granddaughter, who is blind, and, whilst making an enquiry at the centre for her, was asked if I would like to join to teach music classes on a voluntary basis. The rest is history as the saying goes!

I mainly teach drums and percussion to people of all ages, but also volunteer with youth work, occasional caretaking duties and with the monthly newsletter. I feel it all helps to encourage local people in achieving skills while promoting fun. Witnessing someone learning from you and acknowledging their achievements is definitely feel good factor and extremely encouraging and in return I receive 100 per cent support and backing from the centre all the way!”

“It’s such a community based centre, volunteers are part of the community, enhances the fact that it's about community, not them and us”

"Really good relationship between staff and volunteers, we have volunteer meetings and recently had a volunteer outing and was good to mix with all the volunteers. We're all part of something bigger, and work together. It feels like a little family"

“Place is fantastic, people are fantastic. I look forward to coming in”

"Everybody makes you feel welcome, I've never felt out of place, you can ask anyone anything"

"We all feel part of it"

"Most places rely on volunteers, but it's about inclusiveness (here), involving people, and giving them a purpose, developing their skills - personal, secretarial, people skills and that can lead to employment opportunties"

“I have been eased into the role.  I have anxiety, and they give me just the right level of encouragement without feeling forced"

"I got to fill in the forms straight away, got started and I love it.  I love the Monday Club, hearing all the stories"

"It's multicultural here, volunteering lets you take part in the community"

INVESTING IN VOLUNTEERS

The Whiteinch Centre achieved the Investing in Volunteers accreditation IN 2019
The accreditation recognises good practice in volunteer management and shows the effectiveness of our work with volunteers while having the ability to exceed expectations in order to deliver a high standard for both volunteers and our community.

Achieving the standard shows how much our organisation values volunteers and gives volunteers confidence in our ability to provide an outstanding volunteer experience.

Our work would not be possible without the work of our dedicated volunteers. Volunteers have helped out in a great many ways; assisting our Groups, providing support, liaising with the public on our behalf, and many other tasks besides. Because of this invaluable contribution, we're eager to say a big public "Thank you volunteers! We salute you!"
