New Addition to the Whiteinch Centre

The Whiteinch Centre welcomes a new Business Development Manager!

While Covid and lockdown has been in full flow the Board of the Whiteinch Centre was on the search for a new Development Manager in replace Adrienne McGeechan who moved to pastures new in August. The person appointed was Gordon Keenan.

Gordon commenced in October and comes to Whiteinch with a background in a range of roles across the local authority, community & social enterprise sectors. He has previously worked for Neilston Dev Trust, the National Housing Federation and Drumchapel Opportunities. Gordon is also an active promoter of Credit Unions and is a member Director the Board of Glasgow Credit Union.

Since his appointment Gordon has a had bit of whirlwind look around the area getting to meet as many people as possible and has begun the preparations for a phased re-opening of the Centre as soon as Covid restrictions allow.

On being asked why he took the job and what he hoped for the Centre, Gordon said ‘I applied for the post because I know a bit about the Whiteinch area having previously lived nearby, in Partick, for a number of years and I was always struck by the amount of community activities in the area. There have obviously been some disruptions in recent times caused principally by the Covid pandemic and a number of staff changes. There are also a few repairs outstanding but our intention is to get the Centre up and running as soon as possible.

We’ve got a great core of staff, volunteers and sessional workers as well as community members who want the very best for the Centre and I’m determined to get to a new level in terms of the use of the facilties, the range & quality of services, volunteering, training and job opportunities available at the Centre in the coming weeks & months!

At present, we are running a number of online, accredited training courses as well as a variety of exercise and arts classes online aimed at all age-groups. I would encourage anyone who’s is interested to join a course and/or get in touch and email me with any ideas or activities they’d like to see us undertake in the year ahead.’

If you have any queries or would like to get in touch with Gordon please email him at
