Ancient Egypt in Ten Objects from Glasgow Museums – This course will give you a basic introduction to Egyptology, using ten artifacts from Glasgow Museums for inspiration.  Course starts on Tuesday 21st February 10am-12pm.

A Beginner’s Guide to Looking at Art - This course will give an introduction to art history.  Course starts on Thursday 23rd February 7.30pm-9.30pm.

Passion for Psychology – Come and learn the different theories and applications of psychology from different perspectives.  Starts Monday 20th February 6pm-9pm.

After the success of the Touching The Sky drama project, Birds of Paradise Theatre Company is returning to the Centre with a new project.  Free drama, scriptwriting and art classes for all ages will be running at the Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings, starting on Monday 16th January at 4pm and will culminate in performances of the work produced!  The project will be themed around mediaeval Whiteinch and will include a class on mediaeval Glasgow from Glasgow University’s Adult and Continuing Education department.

Whiteinch Centre has just hosted a short exhibition of paintings by local artist and regular centre user Alistair Buchanan.

His work is available for sale.  If you are interested, contact the Centre and we will put you in touch with the artist himself.

Hopscotch Theatre Company, in association with Glasgow Arts will be performing their panto Mother Goose at the Whiteinch Centre.

Poor Mother Goose has hit rock bottom. Not only is the credit crunch beginning to bite, but she’s ageing fast and spent every cent of the rent on wrinkle cream.  When Lucy the Goosey suddenly starts laying golden eggs it seems all her worries are over, but the dreadful Demon King has his eye on the golden goose and that spells trouble of a different sort.

The performance starts at 7pm on Saturday 3rd December.

Tickets are £3 for adults and £2 for children and concessions.

Friday 28th October, 9pm. NOW FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER, 9pm!
Fancy Dress is compulsory!

Tickets are £1.50 for adults (Please note: This film has a 15 Certificate – parental caution is advised).
Props will be provided and audience participation is encouraged!

Teapots Cafe will be hosting a children’s halloween party prior to the film showing (7pm) and there will a short break between to allow parents to get kids to bed and come back for the movie!

Cosmic Designs will be holding a 10 week animation course at the Whiteinch Centre, beginning Tuesday 1^st November, with a break over Christmas and New Year. They will run from 7 till 9 in the evenings and are open to people of all abilities and to anyone over 12. So if you have ever wondered how Wallace and Gromit was made or wanted to create your own version of old style hand drawn Disney cartoons, come along and find out.

The classes will take you through the wonders of animation from flip books to stop motion and traditionally drawn animation, as well as other aspects needed to tell stories through moving visuals. No previous animation experience is needed, although a keen interest in art will help.

Materials are all provided, and you will receive tuition in a relaxed, fun environment. This is an informal setting and is a creative, encouraging place to try new things without fear.

Workshop block costs £100 for a ten-week session, although you can also pay £12 per session, or instalments of 2, 4 or 6, by agreement.  Concessionary rates are available.
