Regular Centre user Alan MacDonald will be broadcasting his Broomhill Mix radio show for Subcity Radio from the Whiteinch Centre today at 5pm! The Broomhill Mix brings you the very best in Jazz, Soul and Funk.  You can listen online here.
This follows a performance of Whyt Inch Tales, the play from our drama project run in partnership with Birds of Paradise Theatre Company, in which Alan is playing a part.

Following the success of last year’s project, the Whiteinch Centre and Birds of Paradise Theatre Company have worked with local people of all ages on a new community play.

This year’s production is Whyt Inch Tales and is inspired by stories of Medieval Glasgow. The project has been a great learning opportunity for everyone and features singing as well as acting.

The performance will be on Saturday 24th March at 7pm at the Whiteinch Centre.

Tickets are £3.00 for adults, £2.00 for concessions and family tickets priced £5.00 are available.

Ancient Egypt in Ten Objects from Glasgow Museums – This course will give you a basic introduction to Egyptology, using ten artifacts from Glasgow Museums for inspiration.  Course starts on Tuesday 21st February 10am-12pm.

A Beginner’s Guide to Looking at Art - This course will give an introduction to art history.  Course starts on Thursday 23rd February 7.30pm-9.30pm.

Passion for Psychology – Come and learn the different theories and applications of psychology from different perspectives.  Starts Monday 20th February 6pm-9pm.

After the success of the Touching The Sky drama project, Birds of Paradise Theatre Company is returning to the Centre with a new project.  Free drama, scriptwriting and art classes for all ages will be running at the Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings, starting on Monday 16th January at 4pm and will culminate in performances of the work produced!  The project will be themed around mediaeval Whiteinch and will include a class on mediaeval Glasgow from Glasgow University’s Adult and Continuing Education department.

Whiteinch Centre has just hosted a short exhibition of paintings by local artist and regular centre user Alistair Buchanan.

His work is available for sale.  If you are interested, contact the Centre and we will put you in touch with the artist himself.

Hopscotch Theatre Company, in association with Glasgow Arts will be performing their panto Mother Goose at the Whiteinch Centre.

Poor Mother Goose has hit rock bottom. Not only is the credit crunch beginning to bite, but she’s ageing fast and spent every cent of the rent on wrinkle cream.  When Lucy the Goosey suddenly starts laying golden eggs it seems all her worries are over, but the dreadful Demon King has his eye on the golden goose and that spells trouble of a different sort.

The performance starts at 7pm on Saturday 3rd December.

Tickets are £3 for adults and £2 for children and concessions.
